5 Social Media Tips For Busy Business Owners

5 Social Media Tips for Busy Business Owners

Quite often, as business owners we’ll find ourselves too busy to take care of our social media—that's natural. But we still need to be present, so how do we get over that? Well, here are a few tips and tricks that you can use when you're too busy but need to post.

Plan ahead: You can plan your content out on a Word document or a spreadsheet and come up with a few ideas that you might want to cover that month or that week. This will help with writing your content.

Write content in bulk: By bulk writing content (referencing your ideas document), you can have the content ready for you when you need to post it as you've already completed it at an earlier date.

Schedule your posts: If you've written your content in bulk, you can schedule it on scheduling platforms such as Buffer or Sprout Social. This means that you won't have to worry about posting on your socials until your scheduling queue runs out. Personally I prefer to batch create a month's worth of content so that I don't have to worry about it until the following month, reactive posts can then be sprinkled in between for events.

"What type of content should I be posting?"

Be personable: When you are creating on behalf of your business, you want the content to come across as personable. Show your personality as a business owner and a brand, and show people that they can trust you and get something worth while out of following your journey. Post inspiring and educational content as well as entertaining content that's perhaps a bit funny. Keep people up-to-date on what you're doing and create a connection with that person. Remember, people buy from people.

Don't sell, sell, sell: No one wants to feel like they're being sold to. Do not create an overwhelming number of sales posts, and try your best to make it so that they feel like they're not being sold to, but having a solution to their problem provided for them.

These are my top tips for social media for any small business owners who find themselves wearing too many hats with little time on their hands. These are helpful things to bear in mind and pre-scheduling your content can really help if you are a busy business owner. Happy content creating!
